The music video promotes the record label as well as the artist. This means that the record label would be getting advertisement so that other artists would be interested in using that company. The artist would also be promoted and get known by being viewed by numerous amounts of people. For every time the music video is played, there is advertisement towards it so they would be getting money from it. This is showed by adverts, YouTube videos and many more. VEVO is a highly known label which is promoted throughout YouTube and is shown on pretty much every music video know. The name of the company is shown throughout the video on the top right corner.
Art
is a way to make the video and artist look good. It is a way of showing
the audience what the song is about and what the artist wants to portray
themselves as. Some videos are very artistic and contain more graphic than
reality footage. “It Girl” by Pharrell Williams is on a game based video but
there are edits of him coming in. These edits make him look as if he is part of
the ‘game look video’ or even some sort of glitch. He first appears in the
video at 0:29 in a retro glitch sort of way. He then appears again at 1:35 as
an image of a character that you would commonly see in most games.
An
image is to be built upon the artist to how they would like the world to see
them. By doing various things would change their image completely. They may go
from genuine acts which everyone will like to doing something really out there
such as down dressing. Miley Cyrus is a good example for this. In her acting
days she done closed music videos that didn’t really portray her real image, it
was the image that everyone else wanted to see. Now her acting career for Disney
is over, she has opened to the true self which she now wants people to see her
as.
